Having been accused of “a little too much imaginary guilt over the activities of the East India Company and the British Empire in general; viewing the 18th and 19th centuries through the eyes of the politically correct early 21st century,” I’m delighted to have been asked to support Villages Brewery and writer David Jesudason as they launch their “decolonised IPA”, which attempts to reconcile this beloved beer style with a past that is genuinely problematic, but has not been fully explored until now.
