I regularly do talks, speeches, readings and other events, both for the public and bespoke for corporate clients, across the UK and sometimes internationally. Check back here to see if I’ve added any near you!
Get your taste buds ready for a talk and tutored apple juice and cider tasting with the award-winning author of World’s Best Cider (Fortnum and Mason Drinks Book of the Year) and The Apple Orchard (BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week).
Please note this event is over 18years only. The talk will be taking place in The Stable’s upstairs dining area, unfortunately there is no wheelchair access.
Cider is the world’s most misunderstood drink. Often compared to beer, a good cider has more in common with wine, right down to the way apples have a number of different varieties which, just like grapes, have a wide range of different flavour characteristics.
Award-winning food and drink writer Pete Brown fell in love with apples and orchards while researching the first ever guide to cider around the world, and in this talk he explains why Britain had the best apple growing terroir in the world, and how this gives us over 4000 apple varieties with a wide array of flavours. As this year’s apple harvest gets into full swing, we’ll taste some single variety apple juices, and then move on to tasting single variety and blended ciders, comparing the difference between cider and juice, and between different apple varieties.
Along the way, Pete will talk about the magic and mythology of the orchard, and reveal that this everyday fruit is far more special to us than we might think.
